❝ I often hear these cockatoos before I see them. Large and noisy with a lazy wing flap.
On Saturday the twelth of May, I caught an ABC Radio show called Cockatoo wail, fledge or fail. The story is about Red Tailed Black Cockatoos and PhD Candidate, Daniella Teixeira listening for bioacoustic signals for breeding pairs. There are only aproximatly 1400 known Eastern Red Tailed, Black Cockatoos. I don't see or hear Red Tails much where I live. Sometimes I catch a glimpse of a couple. I do however hear and see a bit more of a related species, the Yellow Tail Cockatoo (Calyptorhynchus Funereus) Here is some recordings I've made.
I have released the audio visuals using the Creative Commons Attribution-NonCommercial 4.0 International License so the AV can be copied without an problems.

A group of about five pairs of Yellow Tail Cockatoos feeding on a particular native shrub with large seeds. I couldn't see the Cockies, I heard them first. The sound of their beaks breaking open the seed pods and the sound of those pods dropping on the ground gave them away.
